Valery, born in 1991, on November 17, 2014 received a gunshot fracture of the right shoulder in the ATO zone (Debaltseve , Donetsk region). On December 13, 2014 he was hospitalized to the Main Military hospital, Kyiv for a series of surgeries. Such a wound had severe consequences for the man: unbearable pain, inability to move neither arm, nor hand, fingers. A flexural contracture in the left elbow joint made the arm swollen and bluish.

On January 29, 2015 the patient was admitted to NODUS for free rehabilitation in the framework of the charitable project on rehabilitation of soldiers and volunteers injured in the ATO zone. 


A program of Individual Rehabilitation (IRP) was created and included specialized daily many-hour hardware kinesiotherapeutic sessions in System Biodex 4 Pro with the right arm and shoulder, focused exercise therapy in the

S-E-T, fingers gymnastics.

The following tasks were set as primary in the individual rehabilitation of the patient:

  • simulation of movements;
  • doing exercises in different modes of cyclic flexion and extension of muscles at high speed;
  • strengthening muscles of the trunk and the right extremity;
  • improvement the quality of movements of the right extremity with an emphasis on the right shoulder and hand

The patient successfully completed the inpatient rehabilitation with the following positive results:

  • muscle strength of the right hand is sufficient for self-care

  • improved coordination of movements

  • increased time of sessions in the SET system (no pain, general muscular strength and endurance);

  • no more manifestations of vegetative dysfunction during sessions

  • improved the stereotype of the movements of the right hand;

  • redused paresthesia and pain in the right extremity

  • restored kinematic pattern of movements of the II class in the right hand.
