ACHIEVEMENTS of MARYNA R., the NODUS patient





 

Marina R., born in 2002., was wounded in the spinal cord (a blind penetrating injure of the lumbar spine, contusion of the spinal cord) in January 2015. Primarily she was treated in a hospital in Mariupol. In February 2015 the girl was transferred to the "Okhmatdit" Children’s Medical Centre in Kyiv.

In September 2016 Maryna was admitted to NODUS for further investigation and development of a program of individual rehabilitation (IRP).

During the hospitalization to Nodus, the girl was diagnosed with sensitivity and mobility disorders in the right leg, impaired pelvic organs (incontinence), she also had trophic ulcers in the area of ​​the coccyx and the buttocks.

According to the created IRP the patient received the inpatient and further outpatient rehabilitation courses, including the following regularly therapeutic sessions:

  • S-E-T kinesiotherapy
  • Therapeutic rhythmic transcranial and transvertible magnetic stimulation
  • Electric stimulation of the mediastinal nerves ("Neurosoft")
  • Verticalization session with Balance TR
  • Neuro-electromiostimulation, carbon electrodes
  • Session for active and passive rehabilitation of the lower and the upper limbs (THERA-vital)
  • Machine dosed walking in the MILL & MILL TRACK system
  • Development of coordinating walking in children’s bars
  • Session of the development of verticalization walking
  • Computer electroneuromiography
  • Exercise therapy
  • Hydrotherapy with elements of exercise therapy in water

Marina R. completed the outpatient rehabilitation courses with an impressive positive dynamics:

  • Walks leaning only on the right upper limb (at the beginning of the rehabilitation could walk leaning on both hands).
  • The walking speed increased from 0.5 km / h to 0.9 km / h.
  • Stamina improved (in the beginning of classes there was a need for a break for 5-7 minutes), now the patient can work at sessions for several hours without a break for rest.
  • The distance of walking increased from 300 m to 1000 m.
  • Learned to transfer the body weight to the right leg.
  • The coordination of movements, overall stability and smoothness of movements when walking improved.
